August 18th was a big day for Democrats as well as Republicans. The Democratic Party in Wyoming had more candidates on the ballot this year than there has been in a decade.

My name was on the ballot to continue representing Gillette voting Precinct 1-07 for the Democratic Party, and out of 28 Democrats in my precinct, 12 voted in the primary.

A midterm primary is a good test of who is willing to stand up for their community. Out of 18,626 total registered voters in Campbell County, 9,666 votes were cast. Despite past years where there have empty ballots for partisan races, 237 Democratic voters showed up yesterday.

But no Democrat can get elected if no Democrat runs.

For too long people have been left to feel like they don’t have a choice past the primary. Only being able to “rubber-stamp” important races in the General Election leaves many voters feeling disenfranchised.

Change happens when people are willing to set an example. While it may be believed that a Democrat can’t get elected in Campbell County, it will be statistically impossible unless a Democrat is willing to run in every race.

Thank you to everyone who voted in this year’s Primary, but please remember to vote November 3rd. Remind people that they can still register at the polls the day-of, and that there are great candidates up and down the ballot… and some are even Democrats.
