Today I received a letter from the Campbell County Clerk’s office informing me I had 44 write-in votes for Campbell County Commissioner. I am grateful to everyone who took the time to write my name down for this position, and have accepted the nomination this afternoon at the Campbell County Elections Office.

Currently I am the State Committeewoman for the Campbell County Democratic Party, and was just elected to Precinct Chair on August 18.

I gave my permission to Democrats to write in my name on their ballot if they wanted to. To the best of my knowledge, there has not been a successful write-in campaign in Campbell County in recent memory. I was unsure of the write-in process, or if it even worked. But the Campbell County Elections Office and Canvassing Board have been very helpful explaining deadlines, requirements, and paperwork to be filled out.

Campbell County Dems have not asked for the names of write-in votes in recent primaries. This is something anyone is allowed to request up to two days after an election, according to Wyoming statute. There were 239 ballots cast and out of those, 124 write-in votes for Commissioner. While I had enough nominations to qualify for the ballot, the other 60% of write-ins on the Democratic ballot were for Republican candidates.

As a reminder, if you are writing in someone’s name in on a primary ballot, please make sure that person is willing to run, and that they are actually in the same political party as you.
